AHDRA 2008 – St. Louis, Georgia, and Maryland events

St. Louis – Gateway International (Madison, IL) April 19-20, 2008

Friday (April 18th) at 4:40 am things were moving…there was an earthquake that registered 5.2 on the Richter scale!  Talk about a wake up call!  Of course, at the time we didn’t even know what had happened and found out later when we actually got up to make the rest of the trip to St. Louis.

We were all set to do some test-and-tune on the Friday, but rain had dictated different plans.  It rained the entire afternoon and evening.

Saturday morning greeted us with more rain, and we did not hit the track until 11:52 am!  The cool conditions (it never got up to 65) helped our ET’s and we ran fast all day.  We made the field on our first run in SEP by slowing the bike down and running a conservative 11.773.  SnappyOne loves the cooler temperatures, so we decided to also run in the SE class (10.90 index).  Our fastest pass in the afternoon was an 11.301, which is way too fast for the 11.50 class, but qualified us into the SE field!  It was touch and go all day, racing the rain drizzles in the afternoon and the evening and lots of break-downs on the track, but we still managed to finish out the day by 8 pm!

Race-day Sunday brought us sunny skies and warm air.  The afternoon was quite a bit warmer than Saturday – getting all the way to 86 degrees!  We went two rounds in the ET class, but went out in the first round of SE.  We went all the way to the third round in SEP!

Sorry, we don’t have any pictures for you from this weekend.

Commerce, Georgia – Atlantic Dragway – May 24-25, 2008

Saturday morning greets us with plenty of sunshine and warm air.  It reached 94 degrees on Saturday afternoon, and we were still able to run the number.  We qualified #7 in the 24-bike SEP field.  Our friend, Erik Nelson, grabbed the number one spot!!  Good going, Erik!

On Sunday, we won the first round in SEP over our friend Burt Chapman.  Chip cut an .023 light – good going, Chip!  In the next round, Chip cut a near identical .024 light (consistency is wonderful), and it was a tight race with friend Troy Young, and Troy pulled the win.  All in all, a great fun day racing with friends!!

Rising Sun, Maryland– Cecil County Dragway – June 27-29, 2008

AHDRA Northeast Nationals

Presented by Horne Concrete Construction & Structural Concrete

GREAT track!  The facilities are great.  We wish the vendors could have been down in the main part of the pits with the rest of us, though.  It was a drawback having them way up there!

We decided to test-and-tune on Friday afternoon, and it was very productive for us.  We were able to find our power band for the heat and our last two runs in the early evening were 11.502 and 11.509 seconds nice and consistent J. Had only gotten up to 97 degrees at about 3 oclock.  The 11.50 runs were just after five p.m.

For qualifying on Saturday, our power was a little off, but we still did very well and qualified with an 11.516 pass.  This landed us in the #3 qualifying spot!  EXCELLENT.  Our luck did not continue for race day Sunday, though.  We went out in the first round of ET, but won our first round of SEP.

Chip waits for his opponent to do his burnout while Dave Israel looks on.
