S&S Cycle Jim McClure Nationals

Virginia Motorsports Park

Friday – again, we decided to test-and-tune, and we are very glad we did!  We ran with far more power than usual.  Our fastest clocked time on Friday was an 11.23 – and we were trying to slow it down!

On qualifying day Saturday, there was a bit of a chill in the morning, but it was sunny with scattered clouds.  It warmed up to 73 degrees by the afternoon, and that is what we needed.  We ran flawlessly and we were able to snag the NUMBER ONE qualifying spot in SEP in the second round with a near-perfect 11.502!  He took the #1 spot away from Donnie Huffman’s 11.511.  WAY TO GO CHIP!

For race day Sunday, we went out in the first round of ET against Kevin Winters.  It was much warmer today and we needed to raise the shift points, but neglected to do so.  For the first round of SEP, Chip had a bye run because of his number one qualifying spot.  For the “afternoon show”, his opponent cut a .004 light and there was no catching up to him!
