Friday
morning was a bit chilly, but it turned out to be a glorious day. Chip decided to Test and Tune in the
afternoon, and he clocked his fastest EVER ET at 10.94 seconds! Then he turned around and beat THAT,
running an impressive 10.89 seconds.
He was ready for his qualifying rounds that evening in SEP and ET.
Friday evening for the first round of qualifying,
Chip secured a position in SEP with a conservative 11.636 second
pass. In Saturday morning’s
qualifying session (the 2nd round), Chip ran too hot and
clocked an 11.281. For the last
session on Saturday, he improved his qualifying number with an 11.564,
placing him #13 on the ladder.
On race day Sunday, Chip won his first
round in ET and went out in the second round. He was out in the first round of
SEP. It’s still an improvement
over last year, and he got a chance to visit with some great friends and
watch some awesome racing.
