Atlanta Dragway

What an exciting weekend this was here at Hot-lanta!  Track temp at 4:10 on Saturday was 138 degrees!

First and foremost, we want to thank our sponsor and very good friend Super Nate of Super V Cycles!  Not only did he build us a motor that is a true contender, but he also was our crew chief for the weekend and we managed to squeak out another Number 1 qualifier in SEP (two races in a row!) AND he helped get us to the final round in SEP!!!!  Yes, that’s right – we were runner up in SEP at the Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson Southern Nationals!

In ET, Chip came close to having a double #1 qualifying finish on Saturday after a .007 put him in the #2 spot in the field of 68 bikes competing in the class.

In our first round of afternoon eliminations on Sunday, we ran fast but not TOO fast and was able to get the win light with a break out at 11.354.  Okay, yes, that was too fast, but it was less of a breakout than our opponent.  Chip dialed it in for the semi-final round and ran an 11.501 !!!!  What an awesome run that was!!!  Greg Best ran an 11.506 for that round and we met up at the finals.  Chip felt he was on the very same run and unfortunately broke out (he had no idea he gained 500 hundredths of a second on the first 60 feet) with an 11.450.

We’re very proud of Chip on this very special race day!!

Kevin Winters, Chip Sutinen, & L.E. Tonglet in the “#1 Qualifiers” line – looks like they’re watching a tennis match!

Nate Thompson once again helps out at the starting line and we take the win in the semi finals – headed for our first-ever finals!

What a day!!!
