St. Louis, MissouriGypsy Rendezvous Nationals April 28-29, 2007

Another exciting racing weekend here with AHDRA at the Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis, Missouri.  The weather was a cool start (in the 50’s!) on Friday, but warmed up to the 70’s on a beautiful and sunny Saturday.

Chip managed to capture the number 1 qualifying spot in the first round of ET Class with a .016 reaction time, but it only held until the 2nd round.  There were 61 entries in this field vying for the number one spot.

In the first round of our 11.50 index SEP class, we once again thumped too fast and did not qualify with an 11.323.  We slowed the bike down and got in the field in our second round with a conservative 11.612 and knew we could do better.

The third round of qualifying in the SEP class brought impressive and exciting runs by many!  Robert McConnell ran a near perfect 11.506 for the number one spot early in the round.  Then, Dean Druschel ran a perfect 11.500 with 103 mph to bump Robert McConnell to the number 2 qualifying position.  Our very own Chip rose to the occasion and impressed us all with yet another 11.500!!!  He was going 110 mph through the traps, making his run the #1 qualifier and Dean’s #2, and Robert’s #3.

Race day Sunday was another beautiful and sunny day with temps in the 80’s for the afternoon.  We didn’t make the afternoon show in either field, but it was fun to participate in the #1 Qualifiers Ceremony.  We spent the day cheering on our friends and enjoying the races!
